Please note the following definitions in the product descriptions below:

Time Constant is defined as the time required to reach 63% of final temperature in liquid. An accurate reading is obtained when the reading stops changing, typically 5-10 time constants.

Maximum Temperature refers to intermittent use of probe. When probe is used for continuous measurements, maximum temperature should be reduced by 25% unless specified.

Needle Microprobes

Fast-response needle probes for instant readings in tissue, semisolids and liquids. Also suitable for very small specimens, powders and materials.

The needle tip is sealed to ensure only stainless steel contacts the specimen. Sensors are accurate to ±0.1°C in the physiological range and have a maximum temperature of 200°C. Each sensor is fitted with a 5 ft. lead.

Probes are available in a range of needle gauges and lengths. The smallest microprobes (narrow gauge) give fastest reading. Short probes are easier to insert and last longer. Type #’s indicate needle gauge and needle length in cm (eg MT-29/1HT is a 29 gauge needle of  length 1cm). An HT extension indicates the autoclavable version.

MT probe sizing

Sizes Available (ga/cm.):

Gauge Sensors Time constant
29 ga (0.013”) MT-29/1, MT-29/2, MT-29/3, MT-29/5 0.025s
26ga (0.018”) MT-26/2, MT-26/4, MT-26/6 0.1s
23ga (0.025” MT-23/3, MT-23/5, MT-23/8 0.15s

All needle probes are non-isolated. Isolated versions of 23 ga. and larger needles are available for special order.
