Hypoxia Applications

Measurement of respiratory parameters

PhenoMaster can also be used to measure respiratory parameters under different environmental conditions. For example, the simulation of high altitudes where the partial oxygen pressure is lower. Since oxygen is a key component in aerobic respiration, metabolic flexibility is different under hypoxic conditions. The Phenomaster allows for several solutions to use synthetic air with customized cages and/or isolators to mimic these special environments. Please contact sales to discuss specific applications.

Oxygen consumption, RER and physical activity under normoxic conditions of LF and HF mice. Oxygen consumption (a), RER (b) and physical activity (c) under normal, free-feeding conditions were averaged over the last 4 of the 5 days of high- or low-fat feeding. The 2 h before the exposure to OxR—when mice were in a fasted state—were used to analyze VO2, RER and physical activity under normal, although fasted, conditions. **P<0.01 and ****P<0.0001
