Polypropylene Feeding Tubes for Rodents – Disposable Animal Feeding Needles for Mice and Rats

Instech disposable feeding tubes for oral gavage are flexible to reduce the risk of trauma and disposable to eliminate the cost of cleaning and the chance of compound crossover. Flexible tubes are recommended as an animal welfare refinement over rigid metal tubes.

We manufacture the feeding tubes using medical grade materials to minimize the risk of interactions with test compounds. The tube is constructed of polypropylene, the same material used in plastic syringes. The soft elastomer tip is designed to prevent inadvertent placement in the trachea and reduce the risk of perforation.

Available in boxes of 250 pieces (50 sterile pouches of 5), or smaller boxes of 50 pieces.

Proper restraint and dosing technique are critical for success, and the technique with flexible tubes is different from rigid tubes; see the training videos on the main Instech website for assistance.

Instech is pleased to announce a new addition to their line of flexible feeding tubes for rodent oral dosing. The 34mm length option sits halfway between the 20ga-30mm and the 20ga-38mm tubes.

Like Instech’s other sizes, the tube features a soft bulb-shaped tip and is made of polypropylene, the same material used to make plastic syringes. The tubes come in a sterile package of five, in boxes of 50 or 250 pieces.
